Budget Card.

I'm looking for a PCI-e x 16 video card for no more than $60, that will be used for very little gaming, and mostly just basic computer functions. For awhile I was locked on the 8600 GT, but I want some other opinions too :).

the 8600 is fine for general stuff and light gaming

it will play battlefield 2 on high/highest
armed assault on high
FEAR on high
world in confflict on medium/high
COD4 on like medium/low

ATI Radeon HD 2600XT baby =] better then 8600gt, but I don't know why the price is so low :P You could buy two and x-fire them, and it would still be cheaper then a 8600gt XD

Check it out: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102755

Oh and that chart that kookoo supplied, shows the HD 2600XT out performs ther 3650

No, thats the 512 MB version. I used to have the 2600 XT 512 version, its actually in one of my other PC's still.

1 question tho: why would you need a new gfx card if you have the "ZOTAC GeForce 9800 GTX AMP! Editon video card?" Fake sig eh?

^^ Thanks, but I'm not looking to spend any more than $50-60. I'm most likely going with the 3650 or 8600 GT, if I get one at all.

When you say very little gaming, do you mean very low hours on it, or very low demanding games? If you just want to play stuff like Battlefield 2 and The Orange Box kind of games you could get away with an 8500GT. My 8600GT runs those maxed with no problem. It starts having problems when I play stuff like Bioshock and Company of Heroes maxed in DX10. But for small games, consider the 8500GT. I'm actually going to get an 8800GT soon just to future proof my system.

Or you could go with the 9800 GTX+. :P

I mean maybe CS:S, and possibly Halo 2. All though on very rare occasions, really just looking for something cheap because the integrated one is just terrible for everything :P

Well I went on Microsoft website, says it recommends at least a GeForce 6100. That wasn't minimal either. Correct me if I'm wrong but is this like a chipset? My chipset is a 6150SE haha. You might be good with a 8500GT. Everyone is going to say 2600XT or 3650 or the 8600GT is better, but if that's all you're looking at playing, I don't really think you will need that nice of a card.
