Budget Comp

of course it does, newegg is the cheapeast. Stick with a single core, for a budget pc even a 3200 would be more than enough. 1 gb of ram is good, id suggest dropping to sckt 939 and getting an msi mbox. Itd save you money, and the vid card is just fine.

If you want goog quality components which you can buy individually and then put together yourself then i reccomend using Novatech. I used them once for my second pc and it is cheaper than anywhere else.

dont really help anyone buying in the U.S.A. though fella

have to agree with burnitdown on the CPU front, no real point in going with a dual core if its not gonna take advantage of it. Stick with a decent 939 single core and you can either save moeny or put the money to use elsewhere in the system :)

K, thanks guys, i wasnt sure if i should have gone with dual... should i really go with 939? i wanted them to be upgradeable in the future...

depends on what your budget now will allow. you can probably get a little better 939 setup now or one step down in AM2 which is still not bad. i really dont see a real need for dual right now.
AM2 would be upgradeable where 939 wont be. seems everything is going DDR2 memory and such. i am fixin to build a very cheap AM2 just to get going then slowly replace probably every part in it.

thing is how long before you look to upgrade it again, lets be fair with core 2 duo doing so well AMD are going to want to do something special in the coming year or so to contend with it. Every chance it will mean a newer socket so even if you go for AM2 theres a chance you would need a mobo change in the upgrade anyway.

ITs up to you but I still reckon going for a single core would be everything you need for now

Dont worry, ive thought about future sockets, but there isnt much i can do about it. Its all resolved now, i decided to go with the 3500+, its complete at 589.41 with XP home.
