Ok guyz im looking for the best AMDXP Socket A cooler for under $35. anyone know of one. preferably all copper, lots of CFM's. this will go on an overclocked 2400+XP Tbred chip so it gets HOT! its ok if its loud but preferably nothing that SCREAMS...some whining is ok lol. i've looked and looked and verything SUCKS unless u want to pay $50+...so anyone know of a good $35 or less cooler?

If you want quiet, air cooled and very high performance, you might want to spend $50 and get the DIY Tower112 + 2 Silentboost fans (it comes with one i think)...course you can also slot in a pair of loud fans too :P

Yeah but what fan are you gonna stick on there?

im thinking of getting a REALLY large CFM one (loud) or a panaflo one with decent CFM and decent dba. what would you suggest?

i suggest one that can have a very high CFM and has a RPM adjuster on it that can go to the floppy slot or the back. so it is only loud when need be.

hmm...i'll see which is more convenient and easy to get and make a choice. now that you mentioned the fan controler the polo is in the lead! lol. shes go an extra floppy slot...could put it to use.

The fan controller is a 5.25" controller (not some dinky 3.25" setup :P) .. but it also comes with a PCI slot controller)

i would just put my computer in the freezer. lol

Get a good cooling system, it's probably worth the money if it prevents your processor from being toast. and depending on what you get for a processor on your next computer, you might be able to use it on your next one.

If you want to get some real cheap fans, goto a ham radio swapmeet/"hamfest", you can buy a ton of cooling fans for very little $, there are guys with boxes and boxes of cooling fans that they are trying to get rid of

well this isnt for my computer, and i doubt my gf would have a fridge upstairs lol. hopefully she wont be getting a new computer soon and this one will last her. on the 10th im going to order the polo and hopefully it gets here quick. with a box fan right next to her open case it idles at 55C, sometimes higher. scary.

I recently purchased the Polo735 when advised from Praetor for my AMD XP 2500+. I couldnt be happier, It comes with two different ways to control the speed/noise. One for the PCI Slot (Which Is what I used) and one for the bay. It can get noisy at full speed, but boy does it cool down the CPU! And when you turn it down, you can hardly hear it. Installation was a snap, A++++. This is definetly what you should get.

it is? it says its a 3.25" controller. maybe you've found a diff one than me.
That's me getting confused with the Vantec fan controller

Only if you've handled the condensation perspective.

You can with the Polo.
