Budget Gaming PC $900

Hola amigos

My friend needs a gaming PC and has a budget of ~$900 (5000kr ($1 = 5.47kr))
Only the tower, since his very old pre-built just blew up. Doesn't need OS, I can either transfer his old or get a new for free from work.

Since we are from Denmark, here's the only sites we can use:

I just recommended this build to a different friend, which is a good value build in my opinion.
Here's the problem, the friend I recommended it to would be able to build, overclock and manage it himself - but the guy I'm building this one for is a complete noob, and if anything goes wrong, he's clueless. :)
Also, he wants silence and mATX form factor if possible.

Any inputs are appreciated :)

Would get a AM3+ board and a FX 4300. The 760K is just a APU with the onboard video disabled. With the FX 4300 atleast you still get the extra L3 cache
 
I'm trying to wiggle an Intel build together. AMD is only really worth it if you overclock in my opinion, and I won't run an OC on this PC.
The GA-970A-UD3 is 700kr and the FX-4300 is 750kr, but I'm thinking a Haswell i3+Gigabyte GA-H81M-S2PV which is 420kr+750-900kr (cheapest i5 is 1300kr)

CPU - i5 4430 is cheaper. Isn't the S version slower due to use less power?
PSU - Why not keeping 550W such that there is enough headroom for future upgrade?
 
The recommended PSU wattage for the system was 320W, so I figured a 450W PSU would be plenty. He won't upgrade any time soon.
I changed the Core 1000 to a Coolermaster N200, the GPU to a R9 270X and added a Coolermaster TX3 cooler while saving ~$10 on total price.
The i5-4570S saves a bit of power, but still has the same top boost clock. It has 3 levels, which is 1.6Ghz, 2.9GHz and 3.6GHz vs 1.6GHz, 3.2GHz and 3.6GHz on the non-S.
The i5-4430 was only ~50kr/$10 cheaper.
I'm going to donate a Coolermaster Scout II case fan (bought 10 of them for less than the price of 1 on a big sale once) and set it up as 2x120mm intake in the front and 1x120mm and fan-upwards PSU as exhaust, I think the cooling and noise level will be good.

I definitely looked at Gigabytes HD2/3 series, but pricing is weird in Denmark. The lowest end HD2 LGA 1150 motherboard was like $20-30 more than the ASRock. I have already ordered the parts too, since it's his only gaming PC except for a crappy laptop :)
I've worked with ASRock, ASUS, MSI, BioStar and Gigabyte motherboards - and out of those five ASRock has always had the best built in fan controls (I've read that high end ASUS LGA 1150 should have awesome fan control too), which is a factor here, because he likes silence :)
 
Can't do no wrong here. Asrock seems to be pretty good. In fact my i3 system has the Asrock H61M-DGS mobo and it's well updated in firmware. Not bad for a cheap board.

Also three headers for fans, two cases and one CPU which was just right for my build. :good:

Thanks for the input, but there's a few issues :)
It looks like you took the prices from Newegg incl rebates and such. Not possible in Denmark.
The FX-8350 is $230 in Denmark (things are generally 25% more than US prices), and the motherboard you've chosen for it is incompatible.
You can't buy Team Vulcan RAM in Denmark either, along with RAIDMAX and most of the time PowerColor.
I have already ordered the parts too, they should be here tomorrow :)

this is my exact build for my pc except with a different motherboard.......hmmm where did u find out its incompatible?? it looks like it would work to me. anyways didnt know things were like 25% more expensive in denmark....that sucks! and it sucks that u guys dont have any team vulcan memory either...theyre the best for the price in 4gb and 8gb. plus no raidmax and powercolor.......just dont go with PNY brand stuff for video cards ive heard theyre horrible. anyways take care!

also i got a 390$(under 400$) *american dollars lol* gaming rig setup.....if u want me to post let me know. peace.
 
I made it work with Intel i5-4570S, ASRock B85 Pro4, ASUS R9 270X DC2, Kingston HyperX 8GB, XFX Core Pro V2 450W, CM N200, CM TX3 and Seagate SSHD 1TB.
I really think it was the optimal build for the price in DK, considering most retailers are crap :)
