Budget Gaming PC

I've recently been looking at building a budget gaming pc. It's been a few years since I've built my own so I am out of the loop(been playing with a old pc). My budget it $6-700. I play competitive gaming at a serious level. I have been to China for gaming FPS and I have been getting some serious fps issues due to my outdated computer. Anyhow here is what I have picked so far. Input is highly wanted for the best performance.

Note: Playing competitively means I do not use max graphics.

I have a graphics card and the other essentials.

i would bump the RAM to 1866mhz or do it a bit different...
take a 3570k and a GA-Z77X-D3H and the same memory;)
that would be a faster build for gaming;)

Sorry I forgot to mention I am looking for all AMD compatible. Will the am3+ work with just am3?

For my gcard I have a AMD sapphire Radeon HD 6850. I need to beable to get 125 or 250 constant fps on the major FPS games today. I will not be using HIGH graphic since it causes a handicap for competitive gaming. I will have bloom off and what not also so keep that in mind. I really appreciate the help so far :)

I only plan on using 1 gcard. I will also be using a sound card.

The FX-8120 and the 6100 will work in certain AM3 boards, probably best to get an AM3+ board. That answer your question?

Yes it does. Just wondering thought why not go with the AMD FX-8150 since it is 8 cores and a higher Ghz for better gaming(most fps). Is the price why you suggestion that the Fx-8120 might be better? Just curious.

The CPU is unlocked, which can be overclock very easily. You'd be paying $30 for something you can do yourself in the BIOS in about 2 minutes.

Most games only use at most 4 cores. The extra 8 cores would not benefit you, especially with a 6850.

An intel setup will not perform better in games with a 6850. Would be a waste of money.

I would probably go for a 6100 or 6200, for the money. I got a bad chip with my 6100, one in a thousand. But 6200s are picked better for better temps and better overclocking.

Wait for piledriver. And, did a phenom x6 stay around, no. Did a 6 year old intel stay around until last year? Yes. A core 2 quad.

That has nothing to do with his choice. The x6 is not in production because AMD chose not to. There's still demend, but since the FX is cheaper, and overclocks way more, the FX is the way to go.
