Am looking for a cheap graphics card to improve my Dell Inspiron 530. Is there much difference between the cards at the lower price level?
Does anyone have any suggestions on which i should have a look at?

Thanks in advance, Andy :)

it says online that it has a radeon HD 2600.
my suggestion is the radeon HD 4850. the problem in your case is that it also only has a 300watt power supply, which would pose a problem. you might need to upgrade that too, which is a pain. a 450watt psu should do the trick, but a 500watt or higher would be suggested.

thanks for the reply. My computer only has onboard graphics, but your right about the PSU only 300watts. I'd prefer only to upgrade for graphics at the moment if possible. Would a 2600 be a good upgrade?

the dell psu isnt too bad, dont know about the inspirons, but the dimensions have enough oomph to just about run an 8600 or something

cheers. I've found a couple of threads which say that the dells can handle a little more than. Ok next question if anyone could help. Nvidia or ATI at budget level?

Im quite new to the upgrading scene so excuse all the stupid questions. There seems to be endless choices.

again, i dunno about the inspirons but i got a dimension e510 and e520 and you can replace the Power supply with a better, standard, one, enabling you to run more powerful cards.

Also the stock dell psu doesnt have the connectors better cards need

You can replace the PSU in dimensions with a standard better one, so i *think* the inspiron can, but its a tight fit and there is some cutting of the mesh at the back required in some cases.

long or wide cards wont fit in dell pcs, by the way.
