Motherboard - consider cheap AMD 870 if you are not plan to crossfire

RAM - AMD motherboard only support dual channel. 2x 2GB or 2 x 4GB is what you needed. 12GB is not needed. 4GB is plenty for normal use.

SSD - I would suggest going for higher end video card/ get intel sandy bridge than getting SSD. However OCZ Vertex Series is not fast enough.
Get OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB instead.

I would be doing gaming.


By the way, if I really want to play my games w/ max graphic settings, is it worth skimping on lets say the mobo and cpu a little bit and splurging on the graphics card?

Do sandy bridge compatible mobo's allow for triple channel memory?

sandy bridge run dual channel. And I don't think gaming need more than 4 GB RAM. If your build purely for gaming, I suggest going for core i5 2500K instead

also can you suggest a sandy bridge compatible motherboard?

But reading the benchmark, I am not sure if it worth extra money.
