Build for a friend...

thats a pretty good setup, is he intending to overclock? If not there are cheap mobo options

and you could always go with 2gb ram....although 1gb should remain enough imo

A friend wants a PC so im building him one, is this a good option for a decent gaming machine??? (he already has case, psu, mouse, keyboard, monitor and speakers...)

MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813128012
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115005
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231102
GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102067

TOTAL: aprox. $665

What PSU does he have? Other than that, it looks great :)

its kind of odd that ur friend has the same specs as you but I think you did that on purpose. whats his budget?

his budget is around $600 i think... yeah i know, he doesn't really know a lot about computers, but he wants to be able to play games ata good resolution... so i just recommended him what i was going to get... btw his PSU is brand "Logisys" and is a 480W is that a good brand???

Ok, you got me, im not a really good liar  its just that i dont know what to do... im dumb just forget it :o ...

anywho, i think i should get more RAM instead and get a lower GPU... btw the real psu is the Thermaltake 430W... that was funny... (joeswm8) you were like "you just said he has a thermaltake 430 watt?" lol :D

I knew it! lol

anyway the specs look good, except you might wnat to go with the XFX 7900GS Extreme from new egg and hold off for lower priced DX10 cards in like 6 months.

well, it is common sense, the 8800s are the first cards of its kind, the first thing of its any kind is 1)overpriced because its the only one 2)new cards will come out, lower prices and more bang for buck 3) in 6 months much better choice, performance and price

and read this
"wait 6 months,
vista will be available,
more dx10 card (more futureproof)
maybe there will be a new cpu war,
currently it's obvious what to get: intel & 8800 GTX
but if you wait 6 monts, you will have much more choice, and more bang for the buck, and more futureproof"

Read this forum thread, really good

All I can say is that ypu have chosen an excellent motherboard.

I have one and have had no problems and has numerous options for overclocking.
