In canada so ordering from newegg canada.

My moms laptop is horrendously slow and I want to build Her a simple little computer for her.

All she does on her comp is check email, word docs and of course solitaire.

Im thinking maybe an I3 processor or smaller? an maybe 2 gigs of ram nothing to fancy.

Im aiming for 200$ or less your guys help would be nice! thanks!

$200 is a low budget, even for a low-end system. Do you have any components you can use (case, PSU, etc)? If your budget is a firm +/-$200, look for used on Ebay or Craigslist and format/fresh install an OS.

You won't be able to use Windows legally with that budget, as the cost of the OS is half your budget. As Jiniix said, use Linux and you can barely get by.

Buy one off the shelf if you can find anything for $200.

Do you know why your mum's laptop is slow? Tried reinstalling it or upgrading memory etc? With $200 you could probably upgrade the RAM and buy an SSD if it's worthwhile. What are the specs?

A $200 system isn't going to be much of an improvement for her.

Its one of those stupid netbooks, 1.6 GHZ processor and 1 gig ram, might try to do a re and re on it but I dont think it would be worth it

Yeah it's not the best but a $200 desktop won't be much of an upgrade to be honest.

Maybe try upgrading the RAM and doing a fresh install on an SSD. I bet it can take up to 2GB of RAM. That'll make a difference. What OS is it running?

If it isn't any better then you can always use the SSD in the desktop.
