I forget who came up with the build with a dual core and 512MB of RAM, but that is the better choice with such a small budget.
The CPU is more expensive to upgrade, so while you are building the comp now, go for the more expensive processor and then upgrade the RAM later on.
I mean im not sure but, dual core + 512MB = single core + 1GB, I mean obviously one configuration is better for certain things, but I mean its a $300 budget.
