Just upgraded my Gpu to a Asus gtx 770, i currently have a AMD FX-6300 Cpu.I can run bf4,skyrim, batman origins, splinter cell, all on ultra at over 60 fps.I recently bought arma 3 and my fps goes down to 20 in multilayer, i believe my Gpu is bottle necking my Cpu. Can anyone recommend a good "AMD" Cpu that is just as good as a i5 or 17. I say AMD because i have a AMD board and don't want to change it. Have a AMD 970 chipset

Well, you need to post your motherboard so people know what's compatible.

Edit- NM. You posted the chipset.

Looks like an AMD FX-9590 or an AMD FX-9370

If you get a new CPU make sure to update the BIOS before you install it.

Not to many 970 boards support the 9370/9590 because of the lowerend power phase. Get you a good CPU cooler and overclock the 6300.

ya you are 100% right....I feel dumb as hell but i wrote this post all wrong.I meant to say my cpu is bottlenecking my gpu and would the 8350 fx bottleneck my gtx 770. My fps drops to 15 in arma 3 and there is no way possible it is my gpu.... so i assumed it was my shity fx 6300

Can you post a picture of the back of your computer?

Is overclocking the cpu the best answer for my problem?, if so i will do that but would a fx 8350 perform better stock then the 6300 over clocked?

There are very few games that use more then 4 threads. So a 6300 and a 8320/8350 at the same clock would perform about the same.

I have yet to play Arma 3 (Ill get around to it eventually) but I know that Arma 2 when put on max settings can be a VERY demanding game on any PC. Due to the fact that the entire map is being rendered the whole time with AI also being rendered all over the map. Unlike any other game out there. The resources to do this are immense, but thats the price to pay for realism and immersion in such a game.

I would assume that Arma 3 would require more resources to run. I dont think I have tested Arma 2 on my 680, but I know my 8800GTS got about 15FPS at max @ 1920x1080 and even then I think Arma is strongly CPU dependent compared to other games.

Your CPU may be bottlenecking your 770, however upgrading on that platform you probably will not see much if any improvement. CPUs will generally always bottleneck the GPUs.

I'd suggest overclocking. The FX-6300 and FX-8320/8350 are exactly the same, only the amount of cores differ. Get yourself a good cooler and get your FX-6300 up to at least 4.8GHz. Should be doable with a Corsair H60/Coolermaster Seidon 120 or even just a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo.

After doing some research i am going to attempt to overclock it.I read some posts online about people overclocking the 6300 to 4.8 ghz with good cooling.Would be nice if i could hit that. Hopefully i can hit 4.5 with my board

To be completely honestly, you might not see a significant increase in performance from overclocking either. Id be surprised if you saw more than a 10FPS hit. But, then again Im not sure how overclocking scales on the newer AMD processors.

I just know that overclocking my CPU to 4.1GHz I didnt really see any significant increase in performance in gaming. Which is why I am running stock clocks on it. Although, I havent really had the need to overclock my CPU either yet...

It depends a lot on the game if CPU overclocking will help. And I think that at least Skyrim is CPU dependant.
