Hey guys! im lookin to build a budget gaming computer with around 700 to spend. The setup i have here is a bit over 700 but I hear that there are going to be some price cuts by Intel. I need a suggestion for a PSU.

Yeah ESC motherboards are crap but they're good for budget boxes. That's the CD2 equivalent of the ECS motherboard I had with my Pentium 4 I think. They look exactly the same but mine was for a Prescott. It was solid and I had another solid ECS with an AMD chip. You hear about a lot of them shipped dead or fail premature though...a lot of ship backs. It's a dice roll with ECS but if you MUST buy a lower end board to save some dough ECS isn't too bad. Don't expect Asus quality though....you'll get what you pay for. The BIOS is good and easy to understand...easy overclocking for the CPU...no overclocking options for the RAM on the Pentium 4 one I had though....I doubt that one for the C2D has it either. Also like said about go with an SATA hard drive...they're the same price as an IDE, faster, and easier to deal with. They just plug into the Mobo like a USB port. Other then that, if you are going with an E6400 you might want to think about a better graphics card to compliment it. If you want to run a 7900GS for now until more DX10 cards come out a 7900GS will run 98% of the games you throw at it though so it's not a bad choice. Also remember to factor into your total cost an operating system. I think both XP and Vista retail about $200 but some people are selling XP on E-bay for cheaper now. XP is $190 new from newegg. I'm not sure what Vista sells for.
