I'm getting fed up with not being able to play games much on my laptop so I'm investing in a new build. These are the specs I'm currently thinking about getting, I need some help if you guys know better. I'm going to mainly play FSX.

Asus P8Z77-V
Intel i7 3770k 3.5GHz
Corsair 8GB 1600MHz X2 (16GB)
ASUS GTX 660 2GB
Coolermaster GX 550w
LG SATA Blu-Ray
CoolerMaster 120mm Fan
Noctua CPU Fan
Tenda Wireless PCI adapter
Samsung S23B300H 23" LED
Logitech K120 Keyboard
Logitech LS1 Laser Mouse
All from eBuyer

Yes looks good but get a Corsair CX 600 PSU and a beefier GPU maybe, 660 Ti or 670, or 7870 or 7950...

I'd advise you get a P8Z77-V PRO too, or for around £100 you can get the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H which is a great board for the money (and better than what ASUS and MSI have to offer in that price range).

What case and hard drive are you going for? I don't see them listed.

Completely forgot about HD, just looked around, is there SATA III now I see? Is it much better than SATA II? Just seen Seagate SATA III 3TB for £90 which isn't bad. Case wise I'm not entirely sure what case will fit the build, what case would you go for?

Asus P8Z77-V PRO £170.16
Intel i7 3770k 3.5GHz £263.76
Corsair 8GB 1600MHz £48.87 x2
ASUS GTX 660 Ti 2GB £235.43
Seagate 2TB Barracude £64.98
CiT Vantage Case £31.96
Corsair 600W CX £57.17
LG SATA Blu-Ray £64
Noctua CPU Fan £55.82
Tenda Wireless PCI adapter £5.49
Samsung S23B300H 23" LED £148.46
Logitech K120 Keyboard £10.59
Logitech LS1 Laser Mouse £13.49
Windows 8 64-bit £68.98

£1288.02

Hard drive is good, case isn't. I'd take a Zalman Z11 Plus if you want cheap or if you want something better quality the NZXT Phantom 410, Fractal Design Define R3 and Corsair 300R are around £70-80 and worth the money.

Going for the Corsair 300R.

I'm trying to bring the prices down.

Asus P8Z77-V LX2 84.04 is it going to be a massive difference than PRO?
Intel i5 3570k 3.4 £179.92 apparently no difference with gaming
Corsair 8GB 1600MHz £48.87 x2
Gigabyte GTX 670 £311.67 bettered the GPU ;)
Seagate 1TB Barracude SATA III £50.04 down to 1TB
Corsair 300R Case £62
Corsair 600W CX £57.17
LG SATA Blu-Ray £64
Noctua CPU Fan £55.82
Tenda Wireless PCI adapter £5.49

£1209.41

Coming up with £1197.42, some prices dip and rise on eBuyer daily. I'll be buying in about a week :)

Your new build looks good. One thing about the PRO though, it'll be better for overclocking, and FSX relies quite heavily on your CPU (hence why I didn't suggest changing the i7 to an i5, whereas normally I would, but the i5 should be perfectly fine), so getting a cooler and overclocking your i5 should help you a bit.

I might stick with the i7 then and PRO. Isn't the CPU cooler I've chosen good enough to overclock?

So yeah, I'd say it all looks good now.

But I think an i5 3570K would be fine to use for this build. Get the i5 and that cooler you're looking at and overclock the i5 and it'll be absolutely fine I reckon.

How high can the i5 go with that cooler?

Which Noctua cooler in particular are you looking at? I'd probably be willing guess anywhere between 4.6GHz and 4.9GHz with the PRO board, but every chip is slightly different.

4.5GHz is fast enough though. :)
