Building a computer of my own.

Alright. This is the first time I'm building, so yes, I'm a nub. Cut me some slack. Throw me any [constructive] criticism that pops into your head. I'm curious to see what people think about this system. I'm a gamer, keep that in mind. That is basically my only motive for this computer.

I had trouble with two components. Choosing a specific one, I mean. I can't choose the PSU, and I'm having trouble picking between the processors.

Planning on eventually having two.

Planning on eventually having two, also.

Those are the PSUs I can't choose between. Why 1000w? I'm going to SLI later on, and possibly add more cooling [if I need it], whether it be liquid or fan.

I might get two more sticks later.

I don't know if I want to go quad or not. Right now I'm with a PIV, so anything will be better than what I have at the moment. I'm intending to stay with this new build for awhile, and if I get the quad, I'd OC to 3.0. The point is to keep up with the gaming industry as it keeps flowing.

GPU-

SLI eventually, as I said.

Motherboard-

From what I read, that seems to be a user friendly, OC-able, SLI-able mobo.

Give me your input, please.
This my Christmas present, and I'm helping my parents pay. I just wanna make sure I have a stable, good system.

And no, I didn't forget about the keyboard, monitor. I'm buying those off a friend. :)

I would go with the quad, and right now is a bad time to buy a GTX. With the new (G92) 8800GTS out at $360, you would probably get more performance in SLI with the new GTS over the GTX.

Im not sure about spending that much on a power supply, but for around the same price with 1k watt. This would be my pick http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371012&Tpk=Antec+quattro

Come january / febuary Intel is releasing their new 45nm cpu's. Unfortenitly the 680i will not support the new 45nm quads that will be released, and it doesn't look like the 780i will either.

What OS are you planning on using, vista will support DX10
