Building a computer with $600 budget

[Last Shot]

Hi everyone,

I am planning on building a gaming computer with a budget of $600 including tax. Is this possible? I have never built a computer before and I really don't have much understanding when it comes to computer hardware. So I need help in selecting all of the parts.

I realize there is a guide at the top of the forum that lists the builds to different budget computers, but that is from over 2 years ago.

Thanks.

Thanks for the response. If I do not include the OS in the budget, should I upgrade the graphics card? If so which one should I pick up?

Will you overclock the CPU?
If yes, get Phenom II x3 720. If no, get Phenom II x2 545

Video card - Get 4770 512MB/ 4870 1GB, depends on your overall budget.

PSU - May be a slightly more powerful one for future upgrade...
