okay, so my dad went to a garage sale and bought an intel desktop board d865glc and it had a pentium 4 2.4ghz sl6sr and first, I was wondering if it was any good (hey it was only $2) and what kind of ram it uses
awesome! thanks, hah, the guy had all sorts of crap that he had no idea what it was that he was selling for cheap (got a 500gb HDD for $3 and it works fine) and a mac (I hate them but whatever) gs3 for 5....anyways if I was gonna build a computer for some casual gaming (but good games) halo, half life 2....stuff like that, what would I need, I have an OS hard drives and a case...but I need a PSU, ram, and graphics and sound cards, I think that's it...thanks!
... too lazy for researching the rest of the mobo specs but if that mobo doesnt have AGP your gonna have an hard time finding an good PCI video card...
well...it does...but I like really good sound...I'm a bit of a stickler like that. So I don't need to put two sticks of ram in at a time? I thought you had to do that with this board?
So this guy at the garage sale. His son had a ton of computer stuff and when he went of to college the dad sold it all, and had no idea what any of it was.
Eh, I don't play anything to demanding, halo, age of mythology, half life 2, maybe fear? well, grudgingly I've decided that I don't need a soundcard...on a gpu and ram and a psu I'd say my max is around $150-$200 oh, and should I stick with the CPU that's on it (pentium 4 2.4ghz sl6sr)?
thanks a bunch!
Hmm, okay. So my budget has increased a bit XD to $500. Now that I have more money I'd also like to get a decent dvd burner, maybe another hardrive, ram obviously, and a GPU. I think that's it. I can't pick out parts that will work togethor to save my life, I can put them together just fine and make them work, but getting compatible parts is something I'm just terrible at!
Thanks for all the help I've already gotten!
