Building A Gaming Computer, How Does This Look?

I'm growing quite tired of console gaming and am starting a new quest to build my own gaming computer, opening opportunities to more varied and better gaming. I have been doing some research on what to build, what to use, etc. And I seem to be sticking with this build, as it seems to be laid out the easiest and has a good guide to follow. Is this a smart build for gaming? Or would you guys recommend something else?

If you don't want to read the link... here is the build...

Components
Case: NZXT H2 ($99.99)
Power Supply: Thermaltake TR2 TRX-650M ($59.99 after rebate)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 ($104.99 after rebate)
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K ($219.99)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB ($94.99)
Video Card: EVGA DS Superclocked 015-P3-1587-AR ($479.99 after rebate)
SSD: OCZ Vertex 3 (120GB) ($149.99)
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Green WD20EARX ($189.99)
Optical Drive: Asus Black BW-12B1LT ($69.79 after rebate)
Total: $1,469.71

I would not be using the blu ray disk drive they selected though, as I have no use for one. Strictly gaming.

That build is dated.
With that budget go for,
3570K
Z77mb
Corsair PS
about a 670 or 7xxx vc
2x4GB DDR3 1600 1.5v or lower
Western Digital has the best warranty and Black is their fastest.
Get an SSD if it fits the budget.

Looks great, except since that article is a few months old, some new tech has came out.

Here are the reccomendations.
CPU: Intel i5 3570k $240 Newer CPU, bassicly the same as the 2500k, but slightly better. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504

GPU: GTX 670 $430 This is only about 5 percent worse than the 680, and the 680 is double and a half (litteraly) better than a GTX 580. Plus, this is the FTW version, so it is like 2 percent worse than a GTX 680. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130787

Other than that, looks great, except, will you be overclocking? Because, the motherboard and the i5 3570k are both overclockable. Yes, the new gpu and cpu are compatible with the motherboard.

I'm sorry but I don't really know what any of that is.. :o.

I really don't know that much about computers. Haha.

Hey, I know one thing for sure is that for your SSD, you can get double the siaze (240GB) at NCIX.com. I just checked, and they are selling it for $180.

CPU can be upgraded to Intel i5-3570K instead of what you posted. It is around $238 (according to NCIX, and cpubenchmark.net).

GTX670 is definitely preferred as mentioned above.
You can probably save money on other parts and increase your watts on power supply as well, probably up to 700 or 800 ish.

Start researching :P.

3570K is an Intel CPU, it's a core i5.

Z77mb is a motherboard with the Z77 chipset.

Corsair PS. PS stands for Power Supply, Corsair is probably the best brand.

2x4GB DDR3 1600 1.5v or lower. This is RAM or memory.

Western Digital has the best warranty and Black is their fastest. This is a HDD (HardDrive).

Get an SSD if it fits the budget. SSD stands for Solid State Drive. They are basically a faster, smaller version of a HDD.
