Building a gaming computer...

My budget is roughly $1000, and I will be buying all from Newegg more than likely (unless I hear a compelling argument as to why I shouldn't).

I'd like to be able to run most if not all current games on max settings with a good frame rate, but the 2 games I'm looking to run best are Starcraft 2 when it comes out and Diablo 3. Obviously it will be difficult to judge D3's requirements, but Blizzard normally does well making their games easier to handle for lower end machines, so I'm sure if it can run SC2 on ultra settings it should be fine.

Sidenote: I also will be using this computer for .NET development, and I will frequently be using VS 2008 (2010 when it comes out of beta), SQL Server, multiple browsers (obv.), and I will definitely have at least 2 monitors running, if not 3.

Can someone who is very knowledgeable on building gaming computers piece me something together as a whole or provide advice on various individual pieces?

Thanks a ton.

I actually don't need an OS. My business is providing a fresh license for W7 Pro, so I'm good in that area.

I see that both of you prefer the Phenom 955s. Is there any specific reason you choose that over an Intel i7 besides price? From what I've seen, people tend to say AMD is better for price/quality balance, but Intels are better. Is this true? If so, tweaking the build knowing that I won't need an OS, is there a setup that would be better with an Intel MoBo and CPU that still fits my price range?

PS: My price range is flexible, so if something was trimmed off that you think would be better, feel free to let me know that it is a better option.

Thanks again.
