Building a gaming pc around 500$

I want to build a relatively cheap gaming pc, so im considering XFX RADEON HD4870 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E DVI that i found for around 100 bucks and a AMD Phenom II x3 720 black edition for around 110. Im unsure about the other parts though, such as the mother board and memory. Im wondering wheter or not the gpu and cpu ive decided on are good choices, and what the remaining parts should be. Any help would be appreciated:) Since im a newcomer to this, i probably wont overclock anything myself.

Both of those are good.

That makes $210 so far. Do you need an operating system? What about a mouse/keyboard? Monitor?

thanks for the answer:) no, those i have, so the 500 is just for the actual computer, no os or anything like that

If you have everything except CPU and GPU what else do you need? Do you have motherboard compatible with this CPU?

If you are not going to buy anything else except these and still have $290 left instead of Phenom II X3 get Phenom II X4.. add about $60-70 more for a quad core

That makes things easier

Mobo- Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P- $65

RAM- Crucial 2GB- $50

PSU- Antec 520W- $60 (single rail, 40a +12v)

Case- Cooler Master Elite 330- $40

HDD- Samsung 500GB- $50

DVD Burner- Sony Optiarc- $25

Comes out to $500 even, including what you already have.

That will do for now, but add another 2gb of RAM when you get the chance.

If you can spring the extra $50 for it, grab this instead of the Crucial:

no, i meant that i have a mouse, a keyboard, OS and monitor, the rest i need to buy:) which means memory, hdd, gpu, cpu, motherboard and whatever else is needed

but it was all within budget, the parts you linked, thats what i needed. im sorry if im making it unclear, english is not my native tongue. but the gpu+cpu and the things you linked is what i need to get a working computer right? monitor, mouse, keyboard i already have.

Either way, im really grateful for your assistance:)

No problem :good:

You made it clear, i just had a brain fart...guess i didn't delete the post fast enough, lol.
