Building a home entertainment system

Hi All,
Not something I have experience with but a friend I know has built a windows media system and I have to say it is fantastic!

standard tower with motherboard, 4 terrabite disks, and a fast processor, and a lot of RAM.

That's really the bones of what I know will be needed. Can we build a virtual system here on this thread that rivals any home entertainment system? I'm talking massive storage, blue ray player, fast burning, fast internet, graphics/sound card, wireless speakers, maybe even hook in a xbox to a different room, and stream movies to a different room as well!

Any ideas to start off...
 
budget? and are you in Uk? Us?Aus?...where are you?

i can throw a build list together for you,but i need to know how much.
 
First off, having fast internet and hooking to an Xbox both have to do with the network. You can have both on any computer running windows.

Vista and 7 do make streaming to the Xbox easier though, because they come with media center.
