dude, your friend is right on the money...its dang near impossible. you will be cheaper off buying a laptop. post your price range here and we'll see if we can help you out with a pre-built laptop:cool:

The only laptops you can "build" are some bare-bones models. Basically all the process includes is adding a hard drive, RAM, and CPU. Perhaps a wifi card and GPU depending on the specs and model...

It's possible. It would be very hard to locate all the parts that would work with eachother. Ie a mobo that would fit a laptop housing.
If you want to build a laptop your best bet is to buy a barebones and add the cpu, ram, and hdd.

Other than that, buy premade.

EDIT-TOO you beat me lol

as The_other_one said it is possible using a barebones kit. its actually fairly easy, but i dont think you would save that much, if any money. if you are still interested check out Asus's new barebones kit, and check out www.newegg.com for prices on parts you will need

From what I've seen, the price of barebones setups + components is always more than what you can get for a full setup.

Alienware- build it the way u want and u get great quality with great gaming graphics. might be a little pricey but id recomend it , if u want good gaming.
