what would be a similar AMD CPU fo r around the same price

i will play random game some here everynow and then, but i would rather it do better with doing a couple things at once, i would rather stay with intel unless AMD has something a lot better

also need a motherboard to match, dont know a good brand but have been reading some on asus and DFI, now i need a PCI x16 slot and atlest 2 other regular pci slots

what is better ram DDR2 or what? i want at least 1gb of ram maybe upgrade to 1.5 or 2 later on

ok smithfields have a L2 of 2mb total, the presler's have 4mb total. The presler is made with a smaller process type which is typically better. So if your question is whic is better, then your answer is the Presler. As far as brand, unless you do a lot of gaming, I'd stick with intel, they multitask better. Both Asus and DFI are good brands, I don't think you'll be disappointed with either. And you don't really have a choice when it comes to ram, you'll be getting ddr2 (I know there's a few boards that run both, but they're a small minority). Same goes with PCI-e, you won't even be able to find an AGP one I bet. I know the Smithfields need at least a 945 chipset, would assume the Presler's are the same, but keep that in mind when it comes to motherboards.

The 65 nano are teh same architechture.. Just smaller.

The 3800+ would beat both of those processors however.

Are you sure I know the 3800+ would beat the 820 but i think the 920 might put up a fight in some applications.

The 920 performs exactly the same. Its just smaller. Presler is just a shrunken smithfield.
yeah, but the smaller architecture is supposed to make it a little more efficient and cooler right?

Presler is the newer revised chip :)

Obviously the X2-3800 is profiled to go up against the 830/930 so comparing to a 820/920 is, even on paper, somewhat meaningless :)

Ya i wasn't that sure, needed some backup on that one.
