Building a new computer & choosing parts

Hi people. I've been thinking about building my first computer and the parts I've been looking at are here. My main concern is: Do they work together?

Also, what other things are there to building a computer than buying parts that fit together, and putting them together? Drivers? Do they (driver installation etc. discs) come with the parts?

Modification suggestions are welcome. Budget is about 1200€

Computer will be used for gaming and music production.

My parts list:

Processor: Intel Core i5-3570K
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Optical Drive: Asus Blu-Ray BD-RE/DVD±RW 12x SATA BW-12B1ST
Case: Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB Video Card
PSU: Corsair 650W 650TX V2
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

Thank you

Yup, they all work together. But you are spending way to much on the board and skimping on other stuff, like the case. Get a Gigabyte Z77 UD3H. Download drivers from the sites, not from the disks. Download drivers for the board from the manufactures site, download the GPU drivers from nVidia's site, etc. 850W is way overkill, 600W is plenty, or 750W if you plan on SLI. Get a modulaur PSU like a TX 750M. If you want a HAF get a 932 at least. Get a GPU from MSI or eVGA.

Thanks for the reply.

About the motherboard. I need Wi-Fi in my computer, so if I get the Gigabyte I'd need to get a Wi-Fi card separately. Any suggestions? Also, what are the key differences between the two? Any particular reason why I should get Gigabyte?

Good to know the PSU thing. Saves me 15€ if I take the TX 750, and since I don't think I'll be using SLI I could take a 650 etc.

What differences do different cases have? Building materials naturally, but what else? Also, it doesn't need to be HAF. It just looked decent.

Agin, why eVGA? Any particular reason? Chose Asus because they seem to have quality parts.

Generally I don't like Asus due to the bad support and RMA service. The UD3H saves you 70 dollars or 50 pounds or whatever, and has all the features you need then some. The 912 is a cheap case and just isn't very good. Any case from NZXT or Corsair is fine. Pretty much any internal wifi card works fine. Evga is an Incredible brand, best GPU seller out there.

Overall, your selection for PC peripherals is appropriate. As you are assembling the PC for gaming purpose, I recommend you spending more bucks on video cards and get Nvidia stuff or Gigabyte HD Experience GV-N65TOC-2GI GeForce GTX 650 Ti Graphic Card, it will be a preferable choice in my view. Explore the stuff for a while here http://www.wiseguys.co.nz/computer-hardware and choose the best suit for you.

I already have a ASUS GTX 660Ti on my parts list, why should I get a GTX 550Ti?

Why such an expensive PSU for this build? There are 90 dollar alternatives from corsair with red led that would suit your needs perfectly. Also the NZXT phantom case is a great alternative. Very sleek professional looking case, with red led lights inside to illuminate your case full of goodies through the half plexiglass window...and if you have a matching case and PSU you should switch to the red vengence ram

This would save you money that you could put into getting a 3770k processor. and change your HDD to a Barracuda 3 TB. which is only like 107 on amazon. You'd be in solid shape.

Changed the PSU from 850W to 650W. Can't really take a better processor since I'm already 400€ over my planned budget, luckily it's kind of stretchy. I still need a screen and a keyboard.
