Building a New Desktop

Hi to all,
just joined and am looking for some Expert advice
i can understand, and thats why i came here to you guys.

i want to build a new Intel based desktop,
i already have the screen which is a HDMI 32 Sony 3D lcd,
and I am upping that to a new 42 Sony HDMI

I want to get a new mother board, but im confused between
x79 and z87. I don't understand the difference, one company tell me one and the other another thing?

For example one tells me to get a -

1] ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition X79 E-ATX Quad Channel LGA2011 Motherboard
or
2] ASUS X79-DELUXE Intel X79 ATX LGA2011 Motherboard

the next tells me to get

1] Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming GT, Intel Z97, ATX, LGA1150, SATA Express 10Gb/s Ready, Motherboard
or
2] Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SOC Force, Intel Z97, ATX, LGA1150, SATA Express 10Gb/s Ready, Motherboard

You see what I mean, x79 versus z 97. I thought the z97 was the latest chipset, but companies keep telling me x79.

im not a gamer, but do graphic design and watch alot of Hi Def Movies.

I wanted to get the New Haswell Intel chip, as im running an i7 at 2.80mhz and never had a problem, and im not an overcloker, so would like to go faster as i can't even play 3d games or watch 3d hi def movies as it stutters and some wont even play.
I was thinking of the Intel and again i get told differences:

1] - Intel Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor
(which is my birthday, 3rd of the 9th 1960, maybe a good omen, lol)
or
2] - Intel Haswell Core i7 4770K 3.50GHz 8MB LGA1150
or
3] - Intel Ivy Bridge-E Core i7 4930K 3.4Ghz 12MB LGA2011 + Noctua D14 SE2011

See I thought the Haswell was the latest i7 Processor but some people tell me that there is a New Sandy Bridge version 2 that has come out now.

I want at least 16 to 32 gig of Fast DDR3 Ram, like say a set of
1] - Mushkin Blackline FrostByte 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3-1600 CL9 (994069)
or
2] - 2 sets of Corsair CMD16GX3M2A2666C12 Dominator Platinum 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3-2666 CL12 w/Fan to give me 32 gig of Ram.
Ive always used Corsair and never had problems.

I prefer to go with nVidia, something like a ASUS 6 gig GTX TITAN BLACK, or a a pair of GTX 780's

Would like a terabyte or 2 of hardrive space as i use 3 external drives now
even if i have to put my OS on an SSD Drive and just use a 7200 rpm for storage, and i want to stay with Windows 7 64 bit.

My case must have at least 2 to 4 front USB 3 Sockets
and room for extra Fans.

im not sure on the size of my power source or wattage i will need

I dont want to go to water cooled.

The part that really Confuses me is the x79 v the z87 processor boards LGA2011 and LGA 1150

My budget which i already have is $6,000, but if i have go a little higher, then so be it because my new one will have to last me another 6 years like the old i7 i have now, or at least untill i win Lotto, which will be a long time.

Which by the way in New Zealand, the Lotto Odds are 1 in 38,400,000.00
(1 in 38.4 Million LOL thats 9 1/2 times our total Population, see what I mean)

Thanks for the time and any help you can offer and if there is way i can contribute to the Forum, by way of Donations, please let me know.

In summary I just want a fast desktop that i use to do photoshop or coreldraw watch 3d movies and if i want to play a few games here and there
without my screen saying to me, hey you! - NO CAN PLAY THIS GAME.
Then I can say back "NOT, MOVE OUT OF THE WAY IM PLAYING"

All the Best and thank you for even taking the time to read my question, let alone spending the time giving me advice.
cheers KiwiKev

Go for lga1150. I don't see the point go for expensive lga 2011.
i7 4790k release soon. You'd better get that if u ar3 not in hurry.

Btw, i don't see the point spending $6000 on a computer. I suggest you spend $2000 and keep upgrade every 2-3 years.

Forget the guy above (not you Cisco), he's just spamming the same crap on every post.

Socket 2011 is useful because it has nearly twice the PCIe lanes available to it. That means if he chooses two graphics card, each with 16 PCIe lanes, most motherboards will already be bottlenecked because the 1150 socket has only 24 PCIe lanes available to it, whereas the 2011 socket has 40.

To the OP, you're not a gamer? You need to decide on your use case specifically as that matters to what you buy. Don't get the titan, its a waste of money. Please clarify your use case, as in once part you say you're not a gamer and in the other, you say you are.
