Building a new gaming computer.. HELP!

I need help building a new computer. Im a newb but i do know a few things about computers. Im not a hardcore gamer but im on my computer a lot everyday. I want a big and fast computer. 22 or 23 inch screen. Plus im going to school for computers so i need one that'll be good for college. i already have a laptop. Toshiba Tecra L2. 1.73 Its slow cause of a virus but im getting a new hard drive and OS for it. But the question is: What would you recomend for a mid lvl gamer but wants fast computer. Oh im buying it off ibuypower.com. Oh an my budget is 2000 or so..

You're far better building it since you get more for your cash and isn't hard apart from getting better components than the ones from ibuypower.com, do you have a budget?

Budget= means a limit on the cash you can expend
