my specs:

CPU - Intel Core i3-2100(3M Cache, 3.10 GHz)
MOBO - Gigabyte H61M-D2-B3 V/S/GL
GPU - Inno3D GeForce GT 440 1GB ddr5
RAM - Kingston 2GB 1333 ddr3 4 GB (2 2GB's)
HDD - Hitachi 7200 RPM 500GB

or

CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 965BE 3.4ghz
MOBO - Asus M4N68T-M LE VSL DDR3/PCIE
GPU - 1GB ATI Radeon 6670 DDR5 128bit

would my specs be running as smooth as the ideal? help is really much appreciated. thanks.

I would save money on the processor if you're going the AMD route and get a quad core as virtually no games take adavantage of 6 cores, and you would save some money. That way you could upgrade the RAM to 8GB and maybe even a little extra into the video card.

oh okay. but as to my question is my specs as good as getting a quad core AMD?

couldn't you just tell us the budget cuz there are a number of issues and missing bits of info to tell which is better.

i would but would you take it in pesos? im actually from the philippines. and i think prices are different here. :P

my budget is about 17k php w/c is about $400. the prices of the specs are as follows:

ideal spec the owner said it cost him $2000

for my 1st spec its about $373 and for the 2nd spec its about $400.

is that just for those parts, cuz you will also need a case, a psu, an operating system, and a dvd drive.

thats my estimate when it has already a case and PSU. i already have win 7 for OS and a dvd drive. i want to have a general idea on what important parts to get.

well hitatchi isn't the best for the hdd, and also both of those have very cheap older mobos and low quality gpus, but i guess for the price that's what you'll be getting.

the phenom, in benches they end up being about equal, i think the 965 wins a little more, but it really wins when you factor in overclocking, which the 2100 can't do at all.

The 2100 can OC on a P or Z series chipset. It just has to be via the FSB not multiplier.

overclocking doesn't shorten it's life that much as long as you aren't going much over 70C, and what he was saying about the 2100 is that there are 2 ways of overclocking it, the less common one is the only way it can be overclocked and you can only use it if the motherboard is a different one than that one that uses the p67 or z68 chipset, while hat one uses the h61. and overclocking with the fsb doesn actually give a slightly better performance boost according to something i just read, but it also results in more heat.

okay thank you so much. i probably will be overclocking it so can what psu and cooling system do you recommend? sorry im such a noob with this stuff.

a corsair cx500 would prob do the job, maybe a antec neo 520w, gos to price there. for cooling the best price/performance cooler is the coolermaster hyper 212 plus
