Ok check it,
First off I am a newbe on the site, but have built budget pcs in the past, but this time I am wanting something that can handle all the things that I do. Just happens I do them all at the same time..... The 2.2ghz celeron I am running on an old biostar MB does not seem to like these things....

This is what I was thinking about doing:

Processor: A Socket 939 AMD Athlon 64 3200 venice
Board: Biostar Socket 939 NF4STa9
Graphics:MSI RX550-TD2 56e Radeon
Mem: (TWO) A data 512MB ddr400 simms
Hd: 120GB Seagate Barccuda 7200rpm 8mb cache
and the 80gb I already have,
Case: enlight Gaming PC extreme pa420313
w/ a aspire atx-cw500p4 500watt PWR SC

and the cost I am looking at is around 650 for the tower alone.... Any Sugestions??

Well, ok, I use my pc to:

Program sites,
Mix sound,
Chat of course, (running two IM's at all time)
As a juke box,
Design graphics,
Game a little (I am more of a consoler)
Watch a few internet cartoons
blog
and that is about it

ok seems like pretty basic tasks. for some new ideas, look through the desktop section or search for other people with about a 700 dollar budget. there have been a few, u culd get some ideas.

$650?? My PC (with my first choice of GPU) cost $615 (without case)!!

Go here: http://www.computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=29369&page=2

Scroll to Praetor's post. That PC is much better than what you specified, and cheaper (bear in mind a case isn't in that list). Swap some stuff around too, like the graphics card and it'd be even cheaper!

Well is it accually $619.31 for the items list above and for the Samsung cd/dvdrw combo, and the samsung 3.5 that I plan to get. I was allowing a little for shipping and stuff like that...

well its really based on the fact that its a very good budget card. it might be a bit more expensive but i bet it has much higher clock speeds.

basically you'll find it hard to paly any of the games manufactured in the last 6-10 months on even lowest settings, the 6600GT is good for people on budgets like yourself, i seriously recommend getting it instead.

I think I figured it out

Ok I think I have a reasonable system figured out that would be ok for gaming, look sweet, and run circles around this pos:

Maxtor 7200rpm 8mb cache HDD
Biostar t-force 6100 MB
939 Athlon 64 venice 3200 PRO
gigaram 1gb ram simm with spreader
Aspire x qpack- al/420black/ silver aluminum MATX Case w/ 420 PSU
Samsung shw162c/bebn dvd/cd rw
Evercool HDAC HDD cooler
and a 120mm apire cd12sl-ubl fan
MSI geforce 6600-td256

cost: 644.96 before $10 rebate and shipping....

What do ya'll think???

Looks good, but are you sure that the motherboard will fit in a Micro-ATX case? And i would also consider buying a different power supply.
