Hi All,

I don't know an enormous amount about the ins and outs of how computers work but I would like to build my own PC to be able to get a decent spec machine for lower cost. I have read a few guides and had a go at producing a machine (see below for spec). I would really appreciate any comments about the compatibility of my potential build and any components which I may have overlooked.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 2 x 3.00Ghz 6Mb Cache 1333 FSB Dual Core Processor
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L - P35 + ICH9 - Socket 775 - DDR2 (1200)/1066/800/667 - PCI-E (x16) - ATX Motherboard
Corsair XMS6400 4GB DDR2 (2x2GB) 800Mhz Non-ECC
Samsung Spin Point F1 SATAII NCQ 1TB 32Mb Cache Hard Drive <8.9ms 7200rpm - OEM
Novatech NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 1GB SLI PCI Express Graphics Card - Retail
Thermaltake Soprano Silver Middle Tower Case With Window NO PSU
800 Watt power supply unit
Netgear Wireless 802.11g 108Mbps PCI Card Adapter
Novatech Portable DVB-T USB2.0 TV Box -Turning Your PC into a Digital TV
Novatech 28" HG281D Widescreen LCD Monitor - 1920x1200 - HDMI, DVI, VGA - 3ms - 800:1- Multimedia - Black
Belkin Wireless Slim keyboard and Optical Mouse
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Socket 775 CPU Cooler
Samsung S223F - 22x DVD+/-/RW - 8x Dual Layer - Sata - Black - OEM

I have XP, would I need to buy Vista or would XP be ok?

Many, many thanks for any advice

Thanks

If you want to use the full 4 gigs of ram you will need to get Vista 64x bit. XP can only handle 3 gigs.
