Building a new workstation, curious if I'm building right.

I'm not the most hardware savvy guy around, so I wanted to bounce this off you guys before I go buy my lego pieces and realize they don't fit. Money isn't much of an object really. I've been given a $2000 budget with the hardware focused on HD video editing and program compiling. It's going to become a hackintosh since I made a bet I could do better than their $2500 joke. Any advice or better compatible items would be appreciated!

DVD drive and an Which version of OSX

Ive only done a couple of hackintosh on laptops , so the only problem you might find will be getting kexts for hardware ,But the Hack is easy enough

We can't discuss if this will be able to be a hackintosh, but we can help with parts.

For HD editing and program compliing, I would definitely go with 16GB of RAM. Here's some good ones:

Your power supply is really overkill. Here's separate parts for cheaper and plenty of power:

And I'd get a different motherboard, since the one you chose is refurbished.

Wolf will be along im sure he seems to be the guy about hardware , the only thing i dont like and wouldnt do is mix AMD GPU with an Intel motherboard, personal choice i suppose, but if im building intel pc i keep parts matching likewise for AMD

thank you all for such prompt replies! I walked away sadly but I give my thanks.
I did change my RAM and went with the different choice of PSU/HDD.

I'm afraid to wander away from the old motherboard because kakewalk.se seems to only have older mobos supported right now. Kakewalk being the hackintosh path of choice currently, I'm willing to DoA and lemon back any mobo that doesn't work.

Regardless of OS (it will be both Win/Mac by the time I'm done), if I put this together it will work? Should I invest in fans and a PM heatsink?

Yes, this will all work. I always prefer a different heatsink/fan for the CPU, but its not needed. It will run cooler with a better one, of course.

If you order before the 7th, don't forget the 15% off on the PSU! And do the rebate. I've gotten all the rebates from corsair that I filled out.
