Building a PC

Hi, im building a computer for gaming/programming.
is this spec good enough for it?

Chipset - AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0Ghz (This chipset is from my old pc, still need some advice to upgrade it or not)
Mobo - Gigabyte G1 Sniper A88X
GPU - Sapphire Nitro R7 4GB DDR5
RAM - Gskill Ripjaw X 16GB (8 x 2) 2133
PSU - Aero Cool Strike X 600W 80+ Bronze

Thank you in advance
Still accepting some advice to change my current specs

I would get a new CPU/mobo. The AM3 chipset is older and doesn't perform well for gaming. My first build had an X4 860K :P

I'm guessing the GPU is the R7 370 and is decent, but will not do anything major. What games were you looking to play?

What parts do you have already, and what's your budget if you were to build a whole new computer?

You have a problem here. The cpu is as an AM3 processor and the motherboard is an FM2+, these will not work together.

What parts do you have already,

This is what we really need to know at this point. But it seems you may be ready for a new build all together.

You want Intel for gaming. An i5 is ideal. 16GB of RAM is fine, but for intel's 1151 socket you will want DDR4 RAM. Get an i5 and get at least an R9 380 or GTX 960 (the 380 is a better choice honestly) graphics card (or better).

If you want to save some money, get an 1150 i5 such as a 4460 (cheap cpu these days) and get some DDR3 to go with it and an appropriate socket 1150 motherboard. 600W power supply is fine for any single GPU build you can think of. Don't get a low quality power supply if you can help it.

Yes hahaha thought of it also that my processor is pretty old and trying to save it hahahaha. Also decided to change it to AMD Godavari A10-7860K 3.90-4.0Ghz 4-Core.
Didn't buy any of the stuff yet so any of the specs would change.

Please see this specs if its good enough for gaming/programming stuffs

Processor - AMD Godavari A10-7860K 3.90-4.0Ghz 4-Core
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-HD3
GPU - MSI R7 370 Gaming 4GB DDR5 256Bit
PSU - Aerocool Strike-X 600w PSU 80Plus Bronze
RAM - Gskill RipjawsX 16GB (8GB x 2) Dual 2133 CL9 2620

Sorry but im not a big fan of an intel processor i do really prefer AMD stuffs when it comes to desktop

You could probably pick up the PSU and GPU now for your current PC, and then upgrade everything else when AM4 is released.

I wouldn't 'invest' in FM2+ at this point.

Why? I agree that the performance deficit is often blown out of proportion and they can still offer usable performance, but making a blanket 'ermagherd AMD' bias is a bit shortsighted.

You don't want to be gaming on an FM2+ build. FM2+ is more designed for the entry level machines that play low end games you get online. Look at the price of the FM2+ processors and tell me what you think. When you see the price of them with the cpu and gpu built into them cheaper then if you were to buy a regular cpu uses for gaming then you know its not gonna perform well enough. Either go Intel or wait for AM4 to be released. You'll be glad you did.
