Building a System

Hey guys, I currently run a 600 mhz celeron pos, and the two p4s at my house are constantly being used by my parents and brother so I thought i'd build me a decent, somewhat cheap system.

So far i've managed to pick up:
Intel P4 3.0E 1MB S478 CPU w/ Fan
Seagate Barracuda IV 7200RPM 40GB HDD
LG 52X CD-ROM
17" ATX Case w/ 300W PSU

all for 250$ CDN ... i think thats a decent price

now all i need is a motherboard thats 478 socket and supports hyperthreading, and some ram. i've been looking at some mobo's, but am quite stumped on which way to go. i have the option of picking up the "asus p4g800-v" board for 80$ CDN

everything about the board seems good, except that it does not seem to support hyperthreading

The ram should be no problem, just pick up 512mb of w/e fits the mobo ...

do you guys have any comments about that board??
or any suggestion on what board i should go for??

it does not have to be anything fancy, because im buying a laptop for school later on, and this computer will be used for gaming, and w/e else.

i'll pick up a vid card ... mayb the ati radeon 9800 AIT frm best buy cuz i work there ... get it for a good deal

so yeah ... any comments on the mobo?

No comments on the mobo, 'cause I don't know it off the top of my head, but a few comments on other things

Watch out for that processor, see if you cant get an s775.

Do you really only need a CD-ROM?

You might run out of 40GB real fast

17" ATX Case w/ 300W PSU

17"??

300W is not good unless it is brand name. What brand?
