Hello again. It's been about 6 years since I last used this forum to build my PC and I'm looking to finally upgrade.

My budget this time is around $2300 USD for a gaming PC. I want it to be top of the line and include a really nice monitor (1440 144hz? or 4k? I don't know much about monitors.

I have tried using various subreddits to get build advice and have recieved the following build suggestions, I just need some clarity as to which one is the best or what I can tweak to make the build great.

I play all kinds of video games on high settings and also tend to multitask (watching movies while gaming etc.)

Here are the builds:

Any help is appreciated and sorry for the wall of text.

CPU: i5 4690K or i7 4790K, depends on how much you want to spend

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO or be quiet! Dark Rock 3 or Corsair H105, depends on how much overclock you plan to do

Motherboard: Mid-range $130 - 140, SLi support
E.g. GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 or MSI Z97-GAMING 5

RAM - personally will choose faster RAM than DDR3 1600. Possibly DDR3 2133/ 2400. But you can always OC your DDR3 1600 RAM anyway

SSD - Samsung 850 EVO 250GB

HDD: WD Blue/ Seagate Barracuda. what ever size you need.

GPU: GTX980. Or last gen GTX 780Ti is good value.

Case: personally favourite is Fractal Design Define R4 (R5 is newer version, but personally don't see it worth $110 when R4 only $80)

PSU; go for modular. Single card, possibly 600W+. Dual card with 850W+

Monitor: No idea. But I don't see why you need to spend $770 on a monitor

if your planning 4k id go for this build. The 850w psu is recommended with the r9 295x2 and with overclocking and future components id go for 1000w. also that first build you chose a M-ATX board, go for ATX. The r9 295x2 is $699 not $599 as stated in first build.

if your not overclocking you could quite easily drop the cpu cooler.

The r9 295 x2 is about the same as 2 gtx 970's in SLI but cooler and takes up less space, the 8gb vs 3.5 will also be more beneficial.
