Building dream computer and have a few questions.

Hello everybody,

First of all I want to thank anyone willing to help me on any questions I have. Plus any reccomendations they can give me. I know I want several things in my dream computer, but then there are a few things that I am debating is better or not. This is where my questions come in.

My buddy just recently gave me his alienware Area-51 case with the mechanical vents and built in lighting and liquid cooling. And yes the case is completely empty but for the cooling system. This is the case I have been trying to get my hands on for some time but was hard to get without something wrong with it or stuck with the intel stuff inside.

Here is a list of what I am trying to get for my dream computer:

AMD FX-8150 AM3+ 8 core cpu
Top of the line mobo with an AM3+ socket that also has as many slots as I can get (at least PCIe 2.0) I think I found one that has 5 with about 18 usb slots.
I would like 32 gbs of 2000 mhz ram but cant seem to find any 8 gb 2000 mhz ram sticks, just 4s

Continued

I'm also wanting to put in dual gpus and I have my eye on a set of 6 gb 950 mhz ones for over 2k a piece.
The biggest psu that I can fit into the case to supply power to everything without the worry of it burning out (any reccomnendations)
Network card (not sure if it matters what kind)
The best sound card I can manage to get for a slot

Besides the moniter, speakers, mouse, keyboard, wires, ect, is there anything major that I am missing to build this thing? Plus is is even possible to get ahold of a 8 gb 2000 mhz ram stick? Obviously money isn't an issue here, but I don't like what brands alienware uses for its hardware, (not and intel fan)

I welcome any comments/questions/reccomendations.

Thanx ahead of time,
Bantzt

Everyone here is going to say that the new AMD chips barely beat an intel chip and is more expensive. If this is your dream computer, want all components to match power for power and want the best money can buy, go for intel. (And this is coming from an Intel fan)

Is this primarily for gaming? You will not, I repeat, will not use over 8GB of RAM. Anything more is a waste of money. And you won't notice the difference between 1600mhz and 2000mhz.

I am confused by your video card selection. Make/model? Links would be best to see what you exactly plan on getting.

What hard drives are you looking at? I definitely recommend an SSD.

For power supply, if you plan on getting 2 video cards, get a 750w-850w power supply from the brands corsair, antec, pc power and cooling, silverstone, seasonic, or xfx. For 3 videos cards, go for 1000w.

Srry, was on my ps3 when I posted the post so links were hard, will post links when I find them again. And it looks like with the motherboard I chose, going with 2133 mhz ram tigerdirect only has 1 and those are 4 gb sticks.

I like that processor cause it is so easily overclockable, and I can choose to run 4 at a higher clock or 8 at a decent depending what I'm running. I guess 16 gbs will be good for ram for now until they make more ram that can run at 2133 mhz. :-)

And yes this will mostly be gaming, but also some game design app design.

And I planned the ssd cause ik its faster, the mobo has several 6/gbs sata ports.

Will post a pick of my selection of stuff in a bit.

Not sure if I can run 3 radeons or not, have 4 pcie x16 ports 2 pcie x1 and 1 Pci lol.

If the PCI 2.0 slots are at x8, you're fine.

And an i2500k at 4.5ghz still beats a 8150 at 5ghz. But up to you.

Idk, Intel just doesn't seem to interest me, can't seem to shake it. And with the liquid cooling from the case should easily hit 5 ghz, buddy of mine is sitting at 4.7 and not even trying.

And wat do u think of the NVIDIA Tesla C2070 Computing Processor - 6 gb gddr5 ram running 2 of them?

That is a workstation card and is used for 3D modeling. It will not perform well in games.

You`ll want to look at the Nvidia 580 or AMD 7970 for the best performance.

OK I'm looking thru some gaming 2gb gpus, all crossfire x ready, what is the max amount of gpus u can put together with crossfire?

Srry, going from a penguin 4 ht with 512 mb gpu and 1 gb ram lol.

Again trying to get an amazing computer so I can wait another 10 years to upgrade my ps again lol.

I'm interested in these. And would I need a bridge to use the crossfire or would it be built into the motherboard if it is crossfire x ready?

The most the average Crossfire user needs to use is 2. Any more, and there will be heat problems. And the 6970 is good. Might wanna look at a Nvidia 570, also.

OK, will do, stinks they are making me buy my second one in a separate order, weird. Also, any heat sinks u recommend? Or do motherboards come with them these days?

And looks like the liquid cooling was taken out, crud. OK Wats the best liquid cooling? Power isn't a problem, grabbing a 1500w

That... is a catastrophic waste of money. Take that money and put it towards a better graphics card.

And by "the best" liquid cooling, you mean for your CPU? the Corsair H100 is one of the best.

If you're talking about a full system liquid cooling, those are custom made.
