Well i'm in the process of building my first computer and i need some advice...i have a layout of parts that i'm most likely going to go with but since i'm new to this, i really don't know if they are all compatible or not...i know some mobos are pickey on memory and stuff...so i'm hoping you guys can give me some advice on my choices and if they will or will not work together...here's what i got together so far...

Tower: APEVIA X-Navigator Silver Aluminum, front USB,iEEE,Temp control

Power: Apevia (Aspire) 500W ATX See-Through Aluminum Power Supply, Fan Controll

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 1066FSB (Quad Core) 8000K

Mobo(im not sure which is better, but it's between these two)
ASUS P5N32-E SLI nForce 680i, 1333FSB, SLI PCI Ex, Sound,1GB LAN, iEEE
eVGA 122-CK-NF68-T1 nForce 680i, 1333FSB, SLI PCI Express,1Gb iEEE

Video card(again not sure which brand is better, but between these two)
XFX PVT88PYDF4 GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0
EVGA 512-P3-N802-A3 GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0

Memory: G.SKILL 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit

HD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s

That's what i got to pick from...now will this stuff all work together or not?...also quick question about dvd burners...is "liteon" brand better then say samsung?...well any help would be greatly appreciated..thanks..:D

Yes, it will work. I think you would probably want a better power supply though. BTW, what's your budget?

They way i'm figuring is around 1400 bucks, although if i can go cheaper i'd like that...i want this computer for gaming, video editing and stuff like that...i'm not interested in ocing or anything thing like that...i just want a strong pc that will last me a good 3 yrs or more...so that's why i'm trying to get the higher end components.... So what's the minimum power supply you would suggest?

I honestly dont recommed the power supply. Even if it comes with the case, my two favorite PSU brands are Corsair and OCZ, basicly every model they have out will be sufficient for that system. Though i recommend the Corsair 520w, 620w, OCZ GameXStream 600w, 700w.

i would get EVGA, you get 90 days if you want to "step up" to a better video card at only the cost difference between what you paid and what the new card is retail.

Im not sure about the motherboard, i have heard good things about both. Maybe someone else can chime in..

For the DVD burner, i would get SATA so you wont have any bulky IDE cable, i own two samsung drives and love em'. Liteon is a good brand too.

What OS do you plan on running, in order to take advantage of DX10 with those video cards and some newer games out you need Vista.

If you can, i also recommend a after market heatsink for the Q6600, such as a Thermalright ultra extreme or zalman 9500-9700

I'm actually probably going to run xp for now on it...i'm alittle leary with vista...i wanna wait to upgrade that one when it's alittle less "buggy"...plus i'm not sure if some of my older games are even compatible with vista yet...so i'd like to stick with xp for the time being... as far as the video card goes, i'm probably going to be buying it from newegg...it says it only comes with a 30 day warranty...but it seems like everyone is picking the evga over xfx...

Not sure if it worth to get the 680i chipset as I think they are not support the new 45nm C2Q CPU out later. it could be a problem if you want to upgrade later
