Building my first comp. need some help

I just recently decided to build a computer because playing games on my three year-old, $500, gateway laptop is becoming a pain. This is my first build so I could use some help with finding the right parts (just looking for a cheap decent gaming comp). Here's some parts I found on amazon :D

Intel Core i5-2500K Processor
DP67BGB Intel Mobo
Corsair Vengeance Blu 8 GB PC3-12800 1600mHz DDR3
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB SATA III 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache
EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti
Corsair Enthusiast Series 650-Watt PSU
ASUS PCI 5.1 Channel Sound Card
Cooler Master HAF 912 Mid Tower ATX Case
Running Windows7

This totals about $1,130 which is just about as much as I'm willing to spend on this build. So, if you could give me some feedback I'd be very happy! :D

Doesn't look too bad. Where are you planning to buy these? do you live near a microcenter?

A Gigabyte or ASUS motherboard might be better, i don't think Intel boards are the best for gamers.

You may want to consider buying an i3-2100 in order to get a better graphics card, if not, the HD5770 and 6770 are stronger than the 550ti for the same and less.

Try newegg.com. That seems expensive for what you're getting. And like jonny said, your graphics card is your weakest point.

What card should I get? I'll go down to an i3 which would give me another $100 for a graphics card. And If newegg is any cheaper than that will give me some more space in my budget too.

Yeah I live in Az so there aren't any microcenters around :/ if there were then yeah that would be a much better price. I'll continue to look around for any cheaper places to get an i5 but if not then I'll just get an i3 most likely.

At this point you'll be limited more by a 550 ti rather than an i3 2100. Go for an i3 2100 and 560 TI.

I second this, you would be very happy with it. However, for what you were planning on spending, you could fit a quad-core i5 into your build. That would give some futureproof to your build for games that may use more than two cores. Here's a quick build I put together to show you what you can get.

CPU - i5 2500K ($220)

CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212+ ($30)

Mobo - Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 ($122)

Memory - G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 ($47)

HDD - WD Caviar Blue 500GB 7200RPM ($85)

Optical - LG DVD Burner ($18)

Case - Cooler Master HAF 912 ($60)

PSU - Corsair Enthusiast Series TX650 ($90)

Video Card - GTX 560 Ti (~$220-240)

Total ($672-692)

Depending on how much you want to spend or what you need/want, then you could add an SSD as your boot drive, blu-ray reader/burner if applicable, larger HDD, even better video card, more expensive case,
monitor, Windows 7 OEM disk, etc. You could even make the above list cheaper with little to no performance hit. It's up to you, but figured I would show you some options.

Also, the above list and totals are without any combo deals, shipping, or rebates.
