Building my first!

I'm wanting to build a Pentium based (I was told to go with a P4 if I'm not into gaming, I'm editing movies, music, etc. This was recommended [intel Pentium 4 630 800MHz FSB LGA 775 EM64T Processor]). A massive HD(at least 400gb I think, unless there is a better way?). I guess what I'm asking is...Is the Processor a good start, if so what motherboard do you suggest, or do I need to go a differ rout? Should I base my starting point on differ componets?

I do some games, but mainly movies, music, etc.. I do know I want as much hard drive as I can get.

id go with their dual core edition-at aout 3.0 3.2 ghz. Also go with like 2 200gig's on a sata connection. MOBO- asus p5 series is great. Good overclock options and raid options.

I just interpreted the second not as a typo... dont know why but i did thats why i recomended the PD3.0

for the hdd get the hitachi one that is 400gigs, sataII, and 16mb cache

Well for a HDD a 400gb runs around $230 to $290 USD, but a 250gb runs $100 to $130 USD. I mean even 300gb drives run about $130 to $200 USD and 320 gb drives run from $150 to $170 USD. Unless your short on space in the case or don't want to get a raid card i would say get two drives and save some cash and get more space. i mean 2 low end 300gb drives is $260 and you get an extra 200 gb of space.

How stable is the 2 HD setup? Any suggestions on a good case that will fit all this with good cooling?

i dono i have 4 Hard drives set up in mine and i dont have any problems. and im often pluging in a 5th one.
