Hey, I would like some help in building my own gaming PC. I'm building it from scratch, and I want it to be a beast. My budget is $2000 to $2300.

So far, I have picked these parts:

Intel Quad Core2 Q6600 - $359
Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 2Gb - $100
GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard - $114.99
Asus 768mb 8800GTX - $799
500GB SATAII 16mb - Hard Drive - $185
Sony AWG170SB2 SATA - DVD Burner - $59
Creative Audigy Value - SoundCard $49
Thermallake Sprano - Case - $139
OCZ GAMEXteme 850 Watts - $259
Zalman CNPS9500LED $75
Need Monitor

Total Price $2168
If anyone could suggest better parts, please let me know.
I really want to know if all my parts are compatible?

and is the motherboard good enough?

Thanks, Nutter

i'd suggest getting an aftermarket CPU cooler. and maybe get a 500 dollar video card instead of a 700 and spend the extra 200 on something else such as toward a monitor. you'll probably want a DVD burner. and a case to put all of this in.

Could you please tell me what price range CPU cooler I should get? Since it is a pretty beasted up PC.

Hey, thanks alot. That helped me alot. So does my spec now are all compatible? I edited my first post for the specs.

Sadly they don't, btw that asus video card is overpriced even if it's AUS$ try looking at evga or msi since they have pretty good prices

Yeah, of course you can always spend more and get something like a 680i mobo but that one i linked is realy good for the price. Just depends on the budget. What OS are you getting or have?

Along side with the Corsair ram i linked, my seconed choice would be these two:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231065
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231047

That PSU you have listed is realy good, it would run SLI 8800's. But if you wanted to save somthing like the 700w GameXStream or a Corsair 520w would be more tha sufficient for that build (non sli)

I'm thinking of buying XP Pro then getting Vista later, I want to play games on the PC, so i assume getting XP would be better for now. Please tell me if I'm wrong.

and is the PSU the motherboard?
Thanks for the help btw.

PSU= power supply

In my opinion i would get OEM Vista home premium 64bit. In order to be able to use DX10 with that video card and play DX10 games such as Crysis you gotta have vista. But at the moment i think XP will be fine if you just dont feel comfortable with vista right now.

Ok, cool, I'll probly get vista now. I always wanted it, It's just that I don't know if all my games will run on it. I might make a partition and run both (tell me if thats a good idea or not).

and for my specs, are they all compatible? and all good? I'll just have a look for a cheaper 8800GTX card.

Sure you can make a partition, i have only found one game that dont work on vista and thats "Xpand Rally" anything and everything else i have tried works with no problems. Thats going to be a killer rig, i dont see anything i would personaly change and with a monitor that will fit your budget about perfect :)

Thanks alot, I'll get Vista then. Yeh I hope my rig is mad lol. I Just got a job so i'll pay my mum back the money for it lol. I'm looking for a 19 or 20 inch monitor widescreen, around about 280 dollars.

Thanks again mate, you helped me alot.
