Building New Computer

Hey everyone. I'm building a new computer for (hopefully) less then $2000. This is what I've come up with so far but I'm really not sure about the performance of some of these parts (or if there the best for the money). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Case:

Hard Drive:

Motherboard:

CPU:

Memory:

PSU:

Video Card:

And of finally (even tho I'm not really sure) Vista.

Thanks for your help!

Do you have any hurry buying this system? if no i would suggest you to wait till july 22, when the C2D and C2Q are reducing prices (you could get a C2Q6600 for 266$) if you're in a hurry get the E6600 which is more than enough, that mobo isn't that great, try looking at the evga models, i would go for silverstone rather than rosewill for a psu but well that's me.

Other than that the system is fine but you might want to get a better cooler for the cpu and probably a gpu cooler as well

Might be hard to keep that system under 2 grand. Look at my sig, that runs (as of now) about 1800 including tax/shipping. I think its a good setup, and you could modify it adding a better mobo, ram, etc. to hold your budget. Honestly I don't think the raptor is necessary, you could just get a good 350gb for cheaper. And like chup said, the price slash will help a lot too.

Thanks for your help! I'm not in a huge rush so I guess I can wait until the prices come down. Heck...by July I could possibly up my budget. And this setup actually comes to $1650 (if I did all my adding right) which I thought was pretty good. Anyways I'll think about waiting.

Which EVGA motherboard do you recommend? I was looking at them and I really am not sure which to pick.

Thanks again.

EDIT: I forgot to add that I already have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, speakers. To keep the price down I'm just going to carry them from my old build (which is only about 1 1/2 years old)

if your going with speed for your HDD (as i assume u are by picking the one you did), i would go with 2 74Gig raptors in RAID

Oh, one more thing. No offense, but I think that case is hideous. I'd get another one. Of course thats a personal preference, but I just figured I'd give you a little more input. Couldn't hurt, right? I'd give the Antec 900 a look. I also like my case, as its not typical looking.
But obviously if you like yours, then by all means go for it. Since theres a variety of cases that come with the requirements you need, its basically about how showy you want it to be.

I'd deffeinatly go with that case because there is two 250mm fans. The one on my case dropped my temps by around 10C and is alos very quiet if not silent - it is the quiestest fan i have on my computer .

Thanks for all the replies.

I changed the case (didn't come across that in my searches and looks like a great case) and the motherboard in my original post.

I would run 2 74GB hard drives but that takes me out a little but more then I wanted to spend and I'm not to concerned about the speed of my hard drive. My current one is 5400 :P

New total comes out to around $2000 (ouch)

Wait until July 22 for the new line of processors and the price drop, the E6650, 6750, 6850 line is coming. And I have heard of the new 8900 series graphics cards to arrive at that time.

I would agree, but if you can't wait, then I would buy the cheaper E4300 for $115. It's still a great processor, and it on par with the E6300, and should OC very well to.

This is off-topic, but I couldnt resist after noticing you're user name.

Are you from NH?

No I'm not from NH. nh is actually my initials.

And now since I learned about all this new stuff I think I will wait since my computer right now runs everything I own fine...I just wanted a new shinny toy :D
