Building New Desktop Help

Hi I am new to the forums here but thought I would try it out and seek some help/advice from others here. I am in the middle of building a new rig. I have a few things left to get but would like some suggestions from others. This is what I have so far,

Kingwin 424 Black Case w/ window

Intel Pentium 4 530J Prescott 800MHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor

ASUS P5LD2 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 945P ATX Intel Motherboard

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD4000KD 400GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive

2GB Kit DDR2 PC2-5300 - CL=5 - UNBUFFERED - NON-ECC - DDR2-667 - 1.8V - 128Meg x 64

That's it so far, I am looking for a good PS and a good video card. This is the video card I was looking at ABIT RX600 XT-PCIE Radeon X600XT 128MB 128-bit DDR PCI Express x16 Video Card. I am flexible as far as cost but don't really want to go over $150 on the video card. I need CDRom, burner, floppy drive and a card reader drive that will read Compact Flash cards. I was also undecided whether to go with 2 burners and no cdrom or 1 of each. Please post your opinions and or suggestions. If you have a suggestion for any parts please link me to what it is you are talking about. Thanks in advance for the help!

what are you building it for games, school work,or what cuz that would help
found this at www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102286

aspire chameleon 550w is a great ps i pick one up for $80 it has lights but it has a 24 pin for your mobo it is cool and cheap

i have a sony dvd+-rw/+-r/cd that cost $100 and i think that is going to work for you

this is just a guide line you dont have to follow like the drive i just dont think you need
that many drives

I use it more for applications than anything but I do like playing counter strike when I get some free time. Since I do more work than anything on it I went with the intel chip. Is this video card PCI-E? I don't see that it says it is and I am not 100% sure but I think I have to have PCI-E.

That 9800Pro is AGP. You need a PCI-e card. An X600XT would be a good choice if all you're doing is playing CS. I'd suggest spending a little more, if possible, and getting a 6600GT. It will give you quite a bit better performance for just a little more money.

Yeah I thought I needed PCI-E which is why I had asked about it. I did a search for the 6600GT but I get various ones that come up. Would it be to much to ask for you to post a link for this video card? P.S. I like to shop through Newegg.com Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the link! BTW what do you think of the rest of the system so far? I read alot of forums and user reviews to come up with what I got. I am hoping this machine will be smoking.

Im thinking an Athlon64 X2-3800 would probably suit your needs a lot better but that depends on your budget :)

Well I already got the CPU I posted the things I have already in my first post. Near the bottom of the post I listed things I still need.

if all hes doing is playing CS then he doesnt really need to upgrade to a 6600GT. a 6600 or x600xt will be fine.
