Hello, i was hoping to get some input on a setup specifically for work use. I say non-gaming, but i would still like the computer to be decently fast because i do tend to have many apps running at once (however, nothing intensive like graphics/media editing) and do not want any slowdown.
After reading through the Comp Specs 101 Thread and other sources such as reviews on Newegg, this is what i've come up with. There are some parts that i don't have much idea though. To give it a little bit of order and to make for easier replies, any specific question i have is numbered.
CPU
Intel C2D E4300 $114.50
1) Is it worth the 50 extra dollars to get the E6320 for double cache and higher FSB?
CPU Cooler
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm $34.99
I'd like my comp to be reliable and last a while, so i figured i would invest in one of these.
Mobo
Don't have much of an idea. The mobo in the Comp Specs thread is MSI P965 Neo-F. All i really know is that i need one that supports my cpu and memory choices, and i'd also like good onboard audio because i don't plan on buying a sound card.
2) Thoughts on Mobo?
RAM
Kingston 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 $68.99
Very highly rated RAM on newegg, seems like a winner.
3) Will 4GB be worth it for my use? For the price, an extra 2GBs seems like it would be a good investment.
Video Card
Also not much of an idea. How good of a card will i need if i won't be doing any gaming? I will be having a dual LCD monitor setup, so it will at least need to support that.
4) Thoughts on video card?
Hard Drive
SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s $114.99
Decently rated HD on Newegg. Seems good.
5) Opinions?
Power Supply
I've been told not to skimp here, so i would like some expert opinions.
6) PSU: good brands? recommended wattage for my use?
Case
I'm sold on the p180b; I love its look. $129.99
7) How are the stock fans on this case?
OS
8) What operating system for my needs? Will probably go ahead with Vista, but 32bit or 64bit, etc.?
I think that's about it. Thanks in advance for any answers or general input.
