i am going to build a gaming pc from scratch, first pc i have ever built, specs required:

3ghz+ p4 prossesor
150gb+ hard drive
1gb ddr memory
128mb graphics card
sound card

building i compleatly from scratch, so need everything
any ideas, of exact stuff i should get??

and my budget is about $750, but in uk so about 400pounds

hmm i dunno its all so confusing, what would you recomend for my specs but nice and cheap and compatable?, how do yu know if it is all compatable with each other?

I also need some help with this question, about a pc with similar specs. Any help would be appreciated. I can find bits and stuff that I want, but I don't know if it is all compatible. So if anyone could recommend me a line up of components that will all work together, I'd appreciate that too.

For a gaming pc you should really consider a AMD athlon 64,they will chew through any game really. For a 128mb graphics card, choose from either a 6600gt or 6800gt as both gpu's offer good gaming results.
Hope this post helped

Ah yes indeed.
CPU-AMD athlon 64 3200+ or 3500+ in socket 939 format (oh and a venice core,they are sweet)

MOBO-Gigabyte k8ns-939 (pci express version)

GPU card-128mb Nvidia 6600GT
-or if you have the money,a 6800GT or even a 7800 gtx
-make sure the card is pci express supported.

HDD-for budget,go with a western digital caviar 800JB-00JJC0(model number)
-for high speed high performance,go with a wd raptor drives in a raid 0 setup.

RAM-Get at least 1gig for gaming,or 512 for office apps.

Thats a really basic guide but i hope it helps :)

1. the motherboard is [1] based on a via chipset... compared to the Intel chipsets, the via chipsets are no competition [2] socket478 has been discontinued
2. if you buy 2X512mb for memory you get to make use of a second memory channel your memory controller may support (called dual channel... see RAM 101).
3. for the record that DVD burner is ancient... their current revision is 110 now and dual layers started with 108 (maybe 107 but i dont remember, used all but the 107)
4. you may not even need a floppy so if you wont need it.. no need to spend the money
5. simple clean case. i like that. but the PSU doesnt have its specs listed. have a look at PSU 101 to see what to look for

and what prossesor for all the stuff, and is there anything elese i ill need?
Well according to your requirements you'll need a 3GHz+ CPU in there .. make sure its a NorthwoodC or a Prescott. You'll also need a videocard
