Can someone please tell me how to get a video file onto a dvd. I have tried for a month and about 20 programs later and none will even look like I have a chance except for adobe premier which is just ludicrous it’s too hard to use its pathetic unless there is a secret to it?

I have .avi .mpg .tp files on my pc and all I want to do is cut frames then burn them to dvd so they will play in a standard dvd player….now that shouldn’t be hard to do right? With audio it’s extremely easy so why is video a lot harder?

Premiere is a wonderful program, but you do have to learn most everything about it before you can really utilize it. Plus, it doesn't like comrpessed videos. Though, editing compressed videos is typically a big no-no.

I think you're approching this the wrong way or something, because it's really not that hard. You first have to take a video. For good measure, we'll say captured DV video(though Firewire) Now, lets just forget any editing, you just want it on DVD... Take a program that converts it to MPEG2. A good converter can be found here...

All the settings and such should be located in some preset. If you're settings are wrong(FPS, bitrate, audio, blah blah blah) it will not work.

Now that you have your video, it's time to burn it. I use TMPGEnc DVD Author. Great little program. You can't do major editing, but you can do some trimming in here.
