Hi

I have this problem on my another PC.. I was installing cooling for AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE - Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme v2 on gigabyte ma770t-ud3p. During the installation I think I moved the northbridge radiator and now it is lose.
So, it moved up and down etc. - i didnt make a big fuss about it, i installed the cooling, turned the pc on and everything was fine. Windows 7 appear, fans worked etc. Suddenly I could smell smoething burning so i turned the pc off from the back, at first i thought it was the cpu that burned but it was not hot and no burn marks aroung the socket etc. If the northbridge got burned, will if affect the PC? Will it work again? Or is this smell normal thing?

Please help..

Check to see if it is burned first and foremost?
If you can smell something burning it can't be normal, unless the cooling is F*CKED UP lol

If the northbridge actually burned then the computer will not work. In that case you will need to replace the motherboard.

I know that he motherboard wont run if the northbridge was burned.. the cooler is loose and it moves in every direction. Besides the mobo doesnt make a sound when the computer starts.. +the fan on the CPU does not work, it is a 4-pin connected to the mobo..

Then it sounds like you burned the motherboard. If it was any other piece of equipment (minus the power supply), stuff should happen when you hit the power button, your computer just won't post. You can check to see if anythings wrong with the power supply by sticking a paperclip into the green and black pins of the 24pin motherboard connector. Of course disconnect everything before doing that.
