Burner is taking forever

I am unsure as to what my problem is....but i am in the process currently of burning some pictures to a DVD using ashampoo...which i have done before. But for some reason tonight it is going to be about an hour until its done....Just the other day i was get I/O errors, etc...and i am unsure as to if i need a new cd/DVD burner or what is going. Its an ide burner.

If your getting I/O errors with the drive it may be dying. Have you ran any general cleanup on your system like Ccleaner, defrag?

yeah sorry i meant to put that...I have ran almost everything. The one i currently have is ide so i may snatch up a sata one. Do you have any ideas of any good ones? I have had this one for about 4-5 years.

Sounds like your RAM may be getting used up also. All of the DVD burners out there now are pretty good...Samsung, LG, Plextor and so on. They run about $25 on Newegg.
