burner problems.

well, my burner burns correctly... about 25% of the time. see i tried burning a copy of a movie for backup the other day and nero 7 ultra says burn process failed.. then i tried burning about 21 mpeg4's to dvd (totalling 3.5 or so gb..) and it came up with the same error after it was fully transcoded, during the burn process past the 50% mark... which happened multiple times, so i noticed exactly where it was messing up.

oh, and also today i tried burning 4 avi files to dvd and it didnt just fail during the burning process, nero 7 just shut down and nothing (not even a send/don't send question) came up, it was like i had never opened nero 7 in the first place!!

im thinking ill try reinstalling nero 7, try updating my firmware for my burner, and if that doesnt work ill take your guys advice on taking any further steps.

ive got a TXT file with the error it gave me, but its too long to post in the thread under a single post and i can't attach it either, its too big for that.

You're just making data disks, right? Give DeepBurner a shot. I typically have better luck with that program than others I've tried.

no, they're all video's to dvd, or nero is going from dvd to dvd image (probably nrg, i duno nero just deletes it afterward) and then back to dvd.

Well you said 4 avi's so I assume you were burning videos and data disks, and not as MPEG2/Video DVDs :P If this is correct, it is the burn process that failing, and not some conversion? How about other burns? Do data burns work?

What is the Movie that your doing a back up. Just remember that nero can not do copy protected dvd's. No one on this forum will be able to help yout to break it so don't ask.
