Burning a previously burnt dvd?

I am having a problem and I am hoping someone will be able to help me. I will try and explain my problem the best I can. I bought a burnt copy of a movie from the flea market, I am now trying to make a copy of this burnt dvd. When I used nero to do a straight copy the burning process failed not long after it had started. I then used DVD shrink to make a back up and then ran it through Nero again. It burnt fine and worked on my computer. When I tried to play it in my dvd player it didn't play. Is there any software anyone can suggest so that I can make a copy of this dvd? Thank you in advance
 
You just burned an AVI / DIVX
It will only play on computers or divx certified dvd players.
Use DvdDecrypter, then Nero, import the video to Nero, Burn.

I don't think you can talk about this here. Could be wrong but i think it is against the rules
