Burning avi files to play on a dvd player ?

I have nero on my pc, What do I have to do with nero to convert the file?

NeroVision is a separate program from the regular Nero Burning ROM. If you do actually have NeroVision, you just go to "Make DVD Video" and it will allow you to choose the file to import, make a menu screen, etc.

Can anyone tell me if the Nerovision can reduce a 9GB avi file to fit onto a 4.7GB DVD?
Yes it should give you the option...when a file wont fit on a normal 4.7gb dvd nero will pop up with the option to burn the file in dvd5 format instead of dvd9...however I cant tell you for sure if it will be able to fit all that on one dvd even reduced. Best thing you can do is if you are new to dvd burning is go buy some dvd rw's that way if you make a mistake you can erase the dvd and start over and you dont make a bunch of coasters, if it goes right and it is something you want to keep then copy the dvd rw on to a dvd r this method has saved me many dvd r's!

the video is from a camcorder and is only 45mins long.... what is the differance between DVD5 & DVD9?

yup... 9gb. one of my friends downloaded it from his camera and now wants me to help him put it onto a dvd.... i did a double take too when i heard 45mins

dvd5 is a compressed version that still looks good...just try to burn it with nero it should do everything for you, if it tells you it will not fit on a normal dvd and ask you if you want to burn it in dvd5 format select yes.
