hi all

when i put a DVD-RW in it wants me to format the disc on the standard windows cd burning software im currently running windows vista on an oldish desktop.

why is this and how do i get around it ?????? its lets me burn files but only once then the disc is no good????

thanks

1. What burning program are you using?

2. Almost all computers will ask you if you want to format a re-writable disc. Almost
any removable media device needs to be formatted before it can be used.

3. You should be able to use a -RW disc more than once. Look for the "erase disc"
button in Windows Explorer.
Below is a screenshot of what the button to do so looks like on my gaming PC. Yours
will not look exactly the same because your's runs Vista and mine is Win7, but the erase
button in Vista is pretty much the same.

yeah i know that i can erase the disc just fine and it will begin to write to it then go error :/

just weird is their any other softwear i can use other than what comes on OS as standard

thanks for the help

You DON'T HAVE TO use the OS standard burner. If it doesn't work then FORGET ABOUT IT. Besides, there are tons of free programs online, such as ImgBurn that StrangleHold mentioned above, that offer MORE OPTIONS then the built-in Vista software.
