Hello, great forum! My first question is about dvd burners. I have a dell dimension 4400 comp. 256mb ram and 20 gb hardrive, usb 1.1 I bought an external dvd burner and hooked it up via usb. Problem is that its burning at .7x's, instead of 12x's or so. I just bought a 512mb ram card to add and will put that in tonight. Is it worth it to add usb 2.0 as well???

Thanks.

You will notice a huge difference in speed if you upgrade to USB 2.0 if you don't already have it. USB 1.1 is only 12 Mbps whereas USB 2.0 is 480 Mbps (40 times faster).

If your motherboard doesn't support USB 2.0 (or if you can't get it to work, as in my case), then there are PCI expansion cards that provide a few USB ports that support USB 2.0.
