I downloaded windows 7 online from a program with my school. How do I burn this to a DVD so I can install it on the computer I am going to build soon?

Burning OPS into a DVD plate

Burning the OPS into a DVD plate is quite simple. Follow the following steps to have it smoothly done.

1. A software called DVD burner is required. (I recommend nero burner)
2. A DVD rom is required by the system to perform this task.

When these facilities are available then you can do it smoothly.
Lauch the software, on the software choose make data DVD, a dialouge box appears to let you choose the file which you want to add to the DVD Plate (Note: an empty DVD Plate is required).
Take the simple steps on the software then you are done.

A dvd burner is not software, its hardware.
A dvd rom can't burn anything, its just a standard dvd drive.

If you choose make a data dvd all you are doing is copying the data from computer to dvd. You need to choose burn image to disk to actually burn the ISO to dvd/cd.

ImgBurn is a good little burning program. Like johnb35 said, you just burn a image of the ISO . Just install Img, start it up, pick Create image file from files/folder. Pick your ISO file and, Get her done:P

+1, I think in Nero 8, you'd have to choose the "Burn Image/Project" option... or something along those lines.

Ok well after I burn the image to a DVD, all I have to do is put it in the formatted DVD drive to install the OS onto the new computer right?

Try to burn it as low speed as your Optical-drive Can..
i had to burn 4 DVDs for Win7 because incompatibilities issues with ISO images
when burning Win7

Yep. You may need to configure your BIOS to boot from the DVD. To do that, turn on you computer and watch for anything that says press a key to get to settings. It will probably be F2, F12, or DEL, but it varies. When you press the key, you will get to your BIOS configuration screen. Look for "boot order" or something like that. Then set the boot order to have the DVD drive be searched before the hard drive. Save the settings, reboot, and if all goes well you will be in the Windows 7 installer! You may not even need to do all that configuration, so just pop in the disc and reboot first. If it boot to Windows, take the steps I just mentioned to configure everything.

just need a simple dvd burning software.. u need to know the format as well.. especially if its an iso file bc that requires a different software and isnt included in most basisc dvd burners try poweriso
